How long will the John Williams double glazing designer take when he visits my home?

Normally the visit will take about an hour for our designer to make all the necessary measurements and discuss all the design options you can choose from.

How long will it take for John Williams to install my new windows?

It all depends on the number and type of windows you have chosen. If you have a new property, the installation is usually quicker and simpler. As a guide, a complete full set of windows for your house can take up to 4 - 5 days to install.

Does John Williams make its own double glazed windows?

Yes, John Williams is a leading regional manufacturer of UPVC double glazed windows. That's why we can offer you some of the best products and prices available on the market.

What colours can I choose for my replacement windows?

John Williams' replacement windows and doors are available in a range of colours. Even though the standard manufactured colour is white, we also offer twelve different colours. As well as the highly popular warm white windows, you can also choose traditional wood grains in the rich, dark elegance of Rosewood, mahogany or the attractive lighter Oak option. There's also our exciting new range which includes cream, whitegrain, green, grey, rustic cherry and black. You can combine any of these colours with white if you prefer, so you can have the outside of your home in a different colour to the inside. Does John Williams offer tilt and turn windows?

Do you sell wooden windows or any other timber products?

Because we specialise in high grade UPVC, we don't sell windows or doors made from wood. However, we do offer a range of realistic woodgrain effect windows that look as good if not better than timber itself. So with our realistic wood effect windows you can achieve the traditional look of timber but without the continual maintenance problems like painting, rotting and warping of real wood.

Does John Williams use Pilkington-K glass?

We are able to offer Pilkington K glass if required. However, our standard sealed units do not contain K glass as the technology has progressed considerably and the new soft coat low e glass is now more efficient. In addition, K glass has a slightly brown tint and most customers prefer glass without this.

I have heard about energy rated windows. What does an A-rating mean?

The A rating system tells you how energy efficient your windows are according to the UK-wide BFRC Rating Scheme. This system is recognized within the Building Regulations to show how your replacement windows comply with the scheme. The rating scheme is from A to G - with A being the highest rating.

Can I purchase UPVC windows for my properties that are located abroad?

Yes, we can offer you a supply only service on UPVC windows and doors for orders outside of the UK. However, we are not able to offer a shipping service so you will need to collect your goods from our factory and pay for the goods when you order them. Can you match my existing windows?

John Williams offers one of the widest product ranges available so we can usually provide you with a very close match to your original windows. If not, our outstanding range of styles, materials, glass types, colours and window frame furniture will enable us to provide you with an attractive alternative.

Can John Williams fit windows in listed properties or those located in conservation areas?

Yes, John Williams offers a range of traditional products that are suitable for listed properties or those in conservation areas. You may require permission from your local authority. Can you supply a single window?

Yes, we can sell individual windows made to your exact measurements and specifications.

Does John Williams belong to FENSA?

Yes. FENSA (Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme) ensures replacement windows and doors comply with the current Building Regulations in both England and Wales. When replacing windows and doors, you must obtain a certificate of thermal performance compliance from FENSA or from Local Authority Building Control. FENSA allows John Williams to offer our own compliance certificates, so we do this for you.

How much money will I save on my heating bills if I replace my old windows?

According to the BFRC you could be losing heat, and therefore money, if your home is single glazed or your double glazing was installed before April 2002. By installing John Williams double glazed windows you can trap the heat and save energy, reducing your energy bills by more than £400 a year.

How much will it cost to replace my windows?

Because every home is different, the shape and size of your windows and doors will be different too. That means everyone has different requirements and all our windows and doors are tailor-made specifically for your home. Can I hang blinds and curtains by drilling into uPVC frames?

Fixing net curtains and lightweight blinds is fine. However, to hang heavier blinds and curtains, we suggest you use a curtain rail fixed into the wall above the window.

Can John Williams offer more than just supplying the windows?

Yes indeed, at John Williams we supply and install all our own products. This guarantees the quality of our products. Our installers are all fully trained and accredited, qualified to install our products to the rigorous standards that our customers trust and rely on. Will you use your own installers to fit my new windows?

Yes - we use our own fully trained installers, although for a few products we will instruct carefully selected partners to carry out the installation on our behalf. We only use fully accredited installers who are experts in their field.

Can John Williams repair windows provided by other suppliers?

We are not able to repair windows from other suppliers, but all our windows have comprehensive long-term guarantees to give you total confidence in their quality.
